How to treat lines and wrinkles under the eyes

Updated: Oct 20, 2022

A very common question that I get asked particularly since post lockdown is how to treat lines and wrinkles under and around the eye area

First of all, lines and wrinkles are a natural part of the ageing process.

As we age, the body produces less collagen leading to thinner , sagging skin, we also lose hydration as the body produces less Hyaluronic acid, our natural hydration supply. As far as the eye area is concerned this can present itself in various ways:

Dark circles appear more noticable due to the tiny blood vessels appearing more prominent as the skin thins and creating a' purple hue '.

Slower cell turnover & less hydration will cause lines and wrinkles to appear around the eye area

Depletion of collagen can cause sagging eyelids or a hooded eye

All of these symptoms can be accelerated by lifestyle choices eg smoking , UV exposure & so can appear from the age of 30+

Treatment options?

Medical grade skincare will deliver ingredients into the skin to create results

Look for encapsulated retinol which will help to slough off the dry lines

& is specially formulated for the delicate eye area; your high street skincare will not do this!

Professional treatments:

Popular choice: Anti wrinkle injections will instantly smooth out the eye are`; lasts about 3-4 months so look at getting it about 3 or 4 times a year

If needles are not an option great results have been achieved with radio frequency & PEMF by Venus Versa

This is a favourite of mine and great results have been achieved [ see image]

It targets the eye area by delivering a gentle heat into the lower layers, stimulating fresh new collagen as well as oxygenating the skin to create brighter, hydrated eyes. Results are progressive [ usually 6 treatments] but puffiness can noticably be reduced in just one treatment [ come and see me after a late night!}
